Bathing Beauties...well, almost...

Don't take my picture, Mommy. You're flashing too close to my eyes, and it's hurting me!

Inspiration?
Last night we were trying to figure out what to do for dinner. I was in the mood for something different and fancy-like, but didn't want to go out somewhere to get it. I got online and started looking up "easy gourmet recipes". Yeah, no such thing...at least not if you want to actually eat real food, that is! I also thought about Pad Thai, b/c I had it recently at a Thai restaurant and it was DELICIOUS! It looked simple enough to make, but, again, I was wrong. There are about ten thousand little ingredients in it, including fish sauce, which was enough to make me want to hurl. So, I'll be only getting my Pad Thai from reputable Thai cooks from now on!

Suddenly, the thought of an omelette hit me. I think it's b/c the Thai restaurant we ate at used to be a Huddle House. Anyway, it was all I could think about. So, I grabbed a couple of the kids and ran to the store to buy some add-ins. While we were there, we ran into Richard, Julia's hubby, and the kids. I invited them over to have omelettes with us as well. They came. How fun!

I made roasted red potatoes (to replace hash browns) and garlic toast (to replace regular toast) to go with the omelettes to make it feel a little more like dinner. We put things like garlic, bell peppers, onions, ham, steak, sausage and cheese in some of them, with salsa and sour cream to put on top if desired. In mine, however, I was still bent on the "gourmet" thing, so I tried something a little different. I put spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, garlic and goat cheese in my omelette. It was SO GOOD! It felt fancy. I love me some goat cheese, and it went well with the egg. It mixed with the potatoes and toast well, too. My only regret is that I used canned spinach, which really had no taste. Next time I'll definitely get fresh instead.

Trey and I decided we really need to go on a diet and start to do even some moderate exercise. It would help a lot if I could get organized enough to start planning out our meals ahead of time and all that good stuff. We've planned to sit down soon and map out our diet plan. It was fun cooking that meal last night, especially with Trey helping (I can't make an omelette to save my life). I think it could be a lot of fun to cook more at home, and actually "cook"!

So, I guess I'll chat with you later. I've got to go out and clean up my cat's "gift" now. She seems to have found an unending supply of giant rats to bring to our front door, beheaded and gutted, to show us her love. I have to say, as sweet as it is, I'd rather she hate us! Have a great day, and I'll see you later.

Blah...
I've come to this blog everyday for the last week and some days, and I've sat trying desperately to think of something to write about. I got nuthin'! Really, there's nothing of note going on in my life right now. I mean, sure there's stuff going on, but you don't want to hear about it, and I don't really feel like writing about it! So, I write nothing.

I'm still drawing a blank now. Cole turns a year old on the 29th. Maybe thoughts of that will inspire something. Ummm, Dumbledore's gay...eh. Marie Osmond fainted. Whatever. Really, nothing makes me want to write anything.

Perhaps I'll be back sometime soon. Until then, I hope you have a great day.

Happy Success!
I had Susan's baby shower yesterday, and I would go so far as to say it was a success. We had right at 20 people show up, including a few well behaved children, and we somehow managed to find seating for them all. We played my two favorite baby shower games, the one where you melt candy bars in diapers and guess what the candy bar is (it really does look nasty), and the one where you take the wrappers off of baby food jars and they have to guess what kind it is (not as easy as it sounds, although I guessed every single one of them right!). I was really happy b/c everyone played and seemed to have fun. We even had two guys come, and they weren't miserable the whole time!

Susan got lots of gifts to help her on her way to being a mommy. It was pretty cool. None of my kids ever got as many soft, warm, fuzzy blankets as her little one got, and I wanted to steal every one of them!

I think the food turned out pretty well, too. We had a lot left over, but not as much as we would have had if I hadn't begged people to take some home! I loved Susan's cake, even though it didn't match my Pooh theme, and it was yummy good!

In the third one, that's my sister on the far right. Does she look prego to you? I told her she was supposed to wear her most pregnant outfit, but if she did, she might need to put another baby in there! Her mom is the one on the left, two seats down.

See that little person there at the end of the couch? That's my neice, Julia, whom I haven't seen in quite a while. She and Blake, my nephew, have both grown a LOT! Funny how kids seem to do that, eh?

I really didn't get a lot of pics, as I was busy running around like a chicken w/my head cut off, and my camera batteries kept dying. I especially want to thank Trey and Julia, b/c w/o them there is NO way I would have pulled this off. Their help was instrumental. Kudos to you guys!

Wanna see so far?
Here are a few of the things I've been working on for the shower tomorrow:

The chocolate dipped rice krispie treats, not so easy. I was going to make them with the kids, but thankfully, I couldn't wait, so I did it by myself...THANK GOODNESS! That would have been a disaster w/the kids doing it! It was so messy, and just, ewwww! They taste good, though!

The pot I got was the closest thing to a honey-pot shaped pot I could find.

The sign is actually brown, and it's going to be sat behind the veggie tray. I found that idea somewhere online...I think it's so cute!

I printed out the letters on the computer, and colored them just a little while ago. Boy, did that take me back!

We ditched the Pooh fruit totem-pole idea. It was too hard to work out, and to make it work would have cost an arm and a leg, and that wasn't even including the fruit! I'm kinda sad about it, b/c I just know it would have been quite a piece for discussion...plus, I had to ditch the Pooh cake b/c it has been discontinued. Kinda makes the whole Pooh theme hard when you can't stick to it all the way! Oh well, I just hope we have fun anyway.

Well, I gotta go clean house now and wash the dishes. Busy, busy, busy! Talk to you later! Wish me luck!

Did you know I'm still here?
Yeah, but not much, eh? Guess why. See, I've been a tad bit on the busy side lately. On Saturday, I'm having a baby shower for my sister, and I'm doing all kinds of crafty stuff. Last night, I made tiny diapers out of felt, which I will be putting yellow Skittles in and pinning on each guest as they come in. There will be one with a brown M&M in it, and whomever gets that one will win the game (the brown one is the poop, the yellow ones are pee, get it?!). Trey also wants to make a fruit totem pole kinda thing that's shaped like Pooh...that's the theme of it all. I'm also going to paint honey dripping from the side of a pot, and the word "HUNNY" on the side. It will hold either honey butter covered croissants from Trey's work, or Bits O'Honey, I haven't decided yet. Then there will be a veggie tray with a sign that says, "Picked Fresh from Rabbit's Garden". On Friday, I'm going to make chocolate covered rice krispies treats with little duckies on them. Isn't it all so exciting?! Yeah, I'm exhausted just thinking about it!

Well, gotta run, the kids are dying to go outside. Talk to you later.
